Beginning Spring of 2011 the I-520 (Evergreen Point Bridge) Bridge will begin tolling users of this bridge. The amount of the toll has not yet been determined but many are concerned with how much of an impact this will be on their wallets! The toll will be a variable toll which means for those that use the bridge at off times (not during rush hour) will pay less than those that have to use the bridge during the busy rush hour traffic times. See 520 Tolling FAQ’s.
What do you need to do to be prepared?
You will have to either sign up for the Good to Go account which will automatically deduct the tolls from your pre-paid account or wait to receive a bill in the mail. Those who don’t have a Good to Go sensor will have a picture of their license plate taken and a bill will be sent to the registered owner.
Are you prepared to begin paying to use the bridge?
Will you use public transportation? What impact will this have on you? I believe this is not something that’s going to be taken lightly. With the turn of the economy, how are we expected to spend additional money out of our pockets on top of all the other taxes we’re already paying? Does this mean you’ll need to think of your options of where you’ll live if you work on the Eastside but live in Seattle?
Live in Seattle but work in Bellevue WA or on the Eastside?
